When I first started thinking seriously about photography, I was inspired by street photographers like Alex Webb, Matt Stuart, Joel Meyerowitz, Vivian Maier and Martin Parr, and the ways they combined colour, composition and shrewd observation.

Colour and composition are also why I love the mid-centry fashion photography by Horst P. Horst, and Saul Leiter’s shoots for Harper’s Bazaar (along with all the rest of his work).

Lately I’ve spent a lot of time trying to understand what kind of photographer I am. The short answer is I don’t know.

I know what I’m drawn to when I’m out with my camera — colour and form, definitely; also abstraction and things that feel like disruptions in our daily lives.

At the same time, my photography keeps changing. Which is, I think, the way I like it best.
